Our 'Zero Waste to Landfill' commitment. How does your business rank? /

Did you know that every tonne of rubbish deposited in landfill creates enough carbon dioxide to fill six and half London buses?

Last month, all businesses signed on to inmidtown’s ‘zero waste to landfill’ carbon and cost-cutting package received a report to show the impacy on the environment of their participation. This showed how much waste was recycled from their premises, how much carbon was saved and even how many cups of tea could be boiled from the energy generated from general waste disposal.

In 2011-2012, participating businesses saved at total of 1,131 tonnes of waste from ending up in landfill sites, and this year we’re determined to get at least 2,000 tonnes.

If you’re already signed on to inmidtown’s waste package, there are three easy ways to improve the figures on your waste report:

  • Instead of sending unused office items to landfill or paying to have them removed, sign on to www.ourgreendistrict.com and allow a smaller business or charity to benefit from your unused furniture and office supplies.
  • Contact inmidtown if you have any unused electrical supplies, light bulbs and batteries. We can arrange to have these collected for free.
  • Find out how your office can recycle better. We can come in and look at your waste and recycling and give you advice on how to get your staff to use the orange bags to their full potential.

If you’re not yet signed on to the package, get in touch with Mitch on 020 7078 7077 to get a monthly report of your waste performance, make cost savings and play your part in making this the first London business district to send zero waste to landfill.
